message from the dean
Hello Texas Engineering Community,
I’m excited to kick off another edition of Texas Engineer magazine. As always, the Cockrell School is buzzing with activity, and we’re here to celebrate it. In this issue, learn about our work in artificial intelligence and geothermal energy, catch up on all the exciting news of the year, spend a day in the life of the Cockrell School, take a look back at our first female engineering faculty member and more.
I am particularly excited this year because the magazine coincides with the new Cockrell Strategic Plan a five-year roadmap to become the highest impact public engineering school.
This year’s magazine showcases the values of our Courageous Engineers – the students, faculty, staff and alumni of the Cockrell School. They are: Big thinkers who identify impactful problems, unafraid to take risks in pursuit of creating change, and dedicated to strengthening our communities to improve lives for future generations.
If you want to learn more about the strategic plan, check it out here. And read on to see the many exciting things happening in the Cockrell School right now.
Sincerely,
Roger T. Bonnecaze
